Through a boardwalk surrounded by the
Kahikatea forest, along the sand and at the end of jetty overlooking Mokoia Island- Hannah’s Bay located in the east side of Rotorua makes for an ideal location for a relaxing photography session.
We began our session by stepping into the beautiful and fairly secluded reserve, which takes you along the wetlands via boardwalk.
A few fun prompts to keep things fun but to keep the intimacy unique, my favourite way to shoot is to keep things natural with gentle guidance with prompts that prompt a few giggles
The foliage grows wild and high, painting a scene of natural tones and also offering some privacy for an outdoor shoot. It’s only natural to feel a little nervous about getting in front of the camera, however, starting our shoot in the wetlands allowed for some time to have a laugh and get comfortable with each other and the camera…the session experience is as important as the photographs!
The boardwalk opened up to a wee bridge with lake Rotorua nestled in the background which made for a lovely spot with the early evening sun
I love, love, love backlit shooting, sun haze and awesome couples
Then down to the shores for some sand-between-the-toes action
Mokoia Island feels close enough to swim to these days!
Out onto the jetty for some alone time…
